Summarize the Lesson::Predicting Outcomes

What is predicting outcomes???

Predicting outcome is to predict what will happen next from the 3S (Story, Statement and Situation) . so the lesson 'Cause and Effect' can help us to predict what will happen. When you know the 'Cause' you will think about the effect about this cause. so the 'Effect' is will happen. the effect is PREDICTING OUTCOMES

How to predicting outcomes???

1. Use the cause and effect to discuss the situation
2. Think on your mind (if you is the situation character what you will do)
3. Think about 5W 1H(the last choice when you can't find what will happen)

Example

Maple is a little girl. She is very beautiful and singing very well. Tomorrow she will go to singing contest. but today she told her mom about the singing contest. her mom is very angry. because she didn't want Maple to be a singer. What will happen next???

- When we use the cause and effect to discuss the situation.
Cause -  Her mom is very angry. because she didn't want Maple to be a singer.
so the Effect - She afriad her mom and will not go to the singing contest.
the answer is She will not go to the singing contest.

- When we use to think when you be a character on this situation (be Maple)
When you love to singing you will go to Singing contest.
the answer is She will go to singing contest.

So we have 2 right answer.

Summarize the Lesson::Drawing Conclusion

Making Inferences and Drawing Conclusions

Read with purpose and meaning

Drawing conclusions refers to information that is implied or inferred. This means that the information is never clearly stated.

Writers often tell you more than they say directly. They give you hints or clues that help you "read between the lines." Using these clues to give you a deeper understanding of your reading is called inferring. When you infer, you go beyond the surface details to see other meanings that the details suggest or imply (not stated). When the meanings of words are not stated clearly in the context of the text, they may be implied - that is, suggested or hinted at. When meanings are implied, you may infer them.

Inference is just a big word that means a conclusion or judgement. If you infer that something has happened, you do not see, hear, feel, smell, or taste the actual event. But from what you know, it makes sense to think that it has happened. You make inferences everyday. Most of the time you do so without thinking about it. Suppose you are sitting in your car stopped at a red signal light. You hear screeching tires, then a loud crash and breaking glass. You see nothing, but you infer that there has been a car accident. We all know the sounds of screeching tires and a crash. We know that these sounds almost always mean a car accident. But there could be some other reason, and therefore another explanation, for the sounds. Perhaps it was not an accident involving two moving vehicles. Maybe an angry driver rammed a parked car. Or maybe someone played the sound of a car crash from a recording. Making inferences means choosing the most likely explanation from the facts at hand.
There are several ways to help you draw conclusions from what an author may be implying. The following are descriptions of the various ways to aid you in reaching a conclusion.

PartC.(Drawing conclusion)

1.  The  Venus  flytrap  is  a  plant  that  eats  insects ;  it  is  hence  a  carnivorous
plant.  Its  main  diet  is  flies ,  caterpillars  and  spiders  but  it  must  be  said
that  the  plant  will  eat  any  small  insect  that  is  unlucky  enough  to  get
trapped  that  the  plant  can  use  for  nutrition.

Conclusion :  Venus  flytrap  eats  only  flies ,  caterpillars  and  spiders.
A  conclusion  that  is  reasonable.

2.  There  are  numerous  kinds  of  seashells.  They  are  found  all  over  the  world.
Some  are  as  small  as  peas.  The  giant  clam  shell ,  though ,  is  very  big.  It
can  be  up  to  three  feet  wide.  Over  the  year,  shells  have  been  used  in
many  different  ways.  They  have  been  used  as  tools,  money,  spoons  and
     dishes.

Conclusion :  Shells  come  in  all  shapes  and  sizes.
A  conclusion  that  is  reasonable.

3.  The  kiwi  is  a  flightless  bird  found  only  in  New  Zealand.  There  are  three
main  types  of  kiwi :  brown ,  great  spotted  and  little  spotted .  All  kiwi
species  have  declined  since  European  settlement  of  New  Zealand  and  the
little  spotted  kiwi  is  most  at  risk .  It  survives  only  on  one  small  island
reservation,  which  was  stocked  with  birds  from  the  mainland.

Conclusion :  The  little  spotted  kiwi  faces  extinction  and  is  hence  protected.
Good  conclusion.

4.  Origami  is  the  art  of  paper  folding.  It  is  an  old  Japanese  skill.  People  can
make  birds,  flowers  and  many  other  shapes  from  folded  paper.  From  Japan,
origami  has  spread  to  the  West.  All  around  the  globe,  paper  folding  is
thought  of  as  a  skill,  an  art  or  just  plain  fun.

Conclusion :  It  is  very  difficult  to  learn  origami.
A  conclusion  that  is  reasonable.

5.  As  with  all  ancient  civilisations,  the  exact  origins  of  the  Incan  civilisation
are  unknown.  Their  historic  record,  like  that  of  all  other  tribes  evolving  on
the  planet  at  that  time,  would  be  recorded  through  oral  tradition,  stone,
pottery,  gold  and  silver  jewellery,  and  woven  in  the  tapestry  of  the  people.

Conclusion :  Their  jewellery  is  one  of  the  records  historians  had  to  rely  on
for  most  of  the  ancient  civilizations.
A  conclusion  that  is  reasonable.
